Fiat Lux Lodge No. 1717 is an 'English Lodge in the Nation's Capital'. What that means is that it is authorized under the Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia to work the Emulation ritual, which is the most common ritual worked by lodges chartered under the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE). Whilst the lodge is entirely holden under the laws, rules, and regulations of the Grand Lodge of DC, it is yet for all practical purposes an English lodge. Not just the work, but the regalia, the meeting times, the festive board, the lodge culture, and the general method of operation are all that of a lodge one would find in England.

We are also extremely proud of the fact that in our short life as a lodge, we have had the Oriental Chair occupied by brothers from every inhabitable continent. Our stated meetings are held at 5:00 PM on the third Saturday of February, April, June and September, and are followed by a 'proper' Festive Board. Our Installation meeting is held on the first Saturday in November. The Lodge meets at 115 Carroll Street NW, at the Takoma Masonic Temple.

Visiting brothers are always welcome, but please let us know in advance so that we may better accommodate you. A dark suit and tie is the preferred attire for visitors to our Lodge; members are expected to be attired in black tie (tuxedo).
